Dan Pitt - Advisor to Fiber Smart

Please list your name, company, title, and brief overview of your role at your current company.

Dan Pitt, President, Palo Alto Innovation Advisors, and Executive-in-Residence, Plug and Play Tech Center; in both these roles I advise startup companies, currently on three continents.

How did you come to hear about/become involved in Fiber Smart Networks?

I was introduced by a mutual friend of David Wang’s and was immediately excited by the company.

What do your responsibilities include as Advisor to Fiber Smart Networks?

I use my expertise to hone the value proposition, introduce the company to potential ecosystem partners, and provide feedback to the company.

What are your thoughts on robotics/automation in the data center?

No future data center will be competitive without robotics and automation. The industry has made a lot of progress in automating the software processes but little progress in automating the physical ones. Fiber Smart Networks not only automates the physical processes but it does so in a manner that integrates with the best current software automation tools.

What are you most excited about for the company?

Finally, someone has brought automation down to Layer 0 in the stack, and that’s Fiber Smart Networks.

What are the challenges you will help the company overcome?

My focus already has been to shake up people’s thinking to imagine what they can do if they could automate Layer 0. No one even wants to touch Layer 0 because doing so costs money and time and introduces errors. Once these obstacles go away, thanks to Fiber Smart Networks, amazing opportunities appear.

What do you hope for the future of the company?

I see it becoming the Magellan for new dimensions in connectivity management.

I think I already know the answer to this, but I’ll ask anyway! What do you like to do outside of work?

My two kids work professionally in my two favorite hobbies: My daughter makes wine (www.MinusTideWines.com) and my son makes cars (Tesla Motors)!
