Fiber connectivity has been instrumental in our networks, but it's been treated as just infrastructure vs an intelligent software defined function. Connections today are defined by cables, which is static and point to point.

Physical layer in today's networks is the only element that is still a manual process, which leads to inaccurate data records, waste of network resources and delays of service activation.

Fiber supports network evolutions and revolutions in the last few decades. While networks take off with virtualization, NFV and SDN capabilities, fiber did not participate.

Someone manually handling a cable connection is becoming not only efficiency and cost issues, but also security, social and equality issues.

Fiber Smart is aiming to close the gap in innovation and making fiber smart in all networks.
